Google Home Mini Suddendly Quit Working (NOT TURNING ON)

Kusakun

Hi everyone, I need some help.

Last Saturday, my Google Home Mini suddenly stopped working. It’s practically new since I’ve had it for several years without using it  it stayed in its box the whole time. A few weeks ago, I set it up and it had been working perfectly.

However, last Saturday it stopped responding and wouldn’t turn on at all, as if it were completely dead. When I try to reset it, I only get a blinking green light and nothing else happens.

I’ve read about a similar issue that occurred back in 2023, but I never had that problem before. Now, in late 2025, I’m suddenly facing it and have no idea what to do. Is my Home Mini dead? It’s almost new, and I can’t figure out what caused it to stop working like this.

Please let me know what to do cant believe this speaker is no longer working...

I feel like there's a Google network or communication problem with nest/home products. All of my cameras are down and my Internet is fine.

Hi @Kusakun,

Thank you for posting in the community. I'm sorry to hear your Google Home Mini suddenly stopped working and won't turn on, only showing a blinking green light when you try to reset it. I understand this is not something to expect, especially since the speaker was new and you hadn't used it for several years. I'm happy to assist you.

To better understand the issue, please provide the information requested below:

  • Is the speaker plugged directly into a wall outlet or surge protector?

  • Are other devices able to receive power from the same outlet?
  • Is the official power adapter that came with the speaker used on the device?
  • Have you tried to use another wall outlet?
  • Was there any type of electrical outage around the time the issue began?

In the meantime, I recommend that you follow the steps below:

  1. Plug the speaker into a different wall outlet.
    • Note: Make sure it's not connected to a surge protector to rule out all other hardware.

  2. Discharge the speaker:

    • Unplug the power adapter from the outlet and the speaker.

    • Leave it unplugged for 20 seconds.

    • Plug the power adapter into the speaker.

    • Plug the other end of the power adapter into a wall outlet that works.

    • Check if any LED lights would appear on the speaker.

  3. If you have a second speaker, try to use the power adapter from the one that currently works.

Keep me posted.

Regards,

Anders
