Google Home not showing Grid Connect under linked service

AMehr
Community Member

I've connected the grid connect app to Google home app however it doesn't appear under the linked services in Google Home. I see the devices (lights) that are on grid connect but home says they are offline and can't access them. All are working fine through grid connect app. Have unlinked and relinked multiple times. They used to work till yesterday.

Hey AMehr,

Thanks for reaching and that certainly hasn't been easy for you — let's figure this out.

Were there any recent changes on your network or set up? Also, what's the message you're getting when you control them via voice commands?

Give these steps a try:

  • Uninstall and reinstall your Google Home and Grid Connect app.
  • Reboot your lights, Google Home and router to refresh the connection.
  • Ask your Google Home " OK Google, sync my devices".
  • If the issue persists, try resetting your speaker.

Let us know how it goes.

Best,

Alex

Alex,

This is a bug in the Google eco system. The issue is that even though I unlink Grid Connect from Google Home, it still continues to show all the Grid Connect devices! I have a new Google Pixel phone running on Android 13, all apps freshly installed and setup!

I had called your helpdesk and the gentleman said that he has passed on this issue to the product engineering team. They are trying to debug why the Grid Connect devices are still showing under Google Home despite unlinking the Service!

This issue sits entirely with Google ie Google hardware, Google OS and Google Home App.. I hope and request the Google team to help resolve this issue soon.

Thanks

Google Team

Please let me know if any update on debugging this Google Home issue?

Why is Google Home still showing all the GridConnect devices despite having unlinked GridConnect? I am unable to relink GridConnect and my automation experience with Google Home is quite poor!

My partners iPhone is working great and my Pixel 6a has become a joke in the house.

Please let me know the ETA for a fix?

Thanks for your support

Hey AMehr,

We understand and we're sorry for the trouble this has caused you. While our team is working on a fix, can you try creating a new home structure and moving all your active devices there? Checking for your phone's system update might help too.

Hope this helps.

Thanks,

Alex

Hi Alex, not sure if you read my previous response. I have the latest Google Android 13 installed on the latest Google 6a handset. I have now rechecked and it shows "Your system is up-to-date"

I can also add that all app updates are set for auto update in the Play Store and it shows me that all the latest updates are installed.

Few questions:

1. Are you in touch with the product engineering team that is looking into this issue?

2. Are these suggestions coming from the engineering team?

Thanks

Hello there,

Creating a new home structure is the workaround they provided while our team is looking into this. We can't provide any time frame for the fix but we'll inform the Community once we receive an update — we apologize for the inconvenience.

Alex

Hi Alex

Created a new home structure. However it did not help! The Grid Connect devices appeared is the app from the start as offline devices!

Hope the engineering team are prioritising this issue and will be able to debug soon.

Thanks for your support

Hi Juni,

Managed to resolve the issue by assigning lights to rooms.

Apparently unless the lights are assigned to rooms, it doesn't link with Google Home. Would be good to have this information so I could have done this much earlier!

Thanks anyways for looking into this.

Regards

Abhi
