Google Home on iPhone setup issue

roosterjb14

Trying to connect a Google Home speaker to an iPhone SE on iOS 16.1.2.  The speaker was previously setup on an android. I've factory reset the speaker and un/reinstalled the Google Home app. I go through the setup successfully but when you talk to the speaker it says it's not setup.  Advice welcomed please!

Thanks,

Jason

Google Nest speakers are set up or installed in the Google Home app, not on your phone. So if you logged into the Google Home app on your iPhone using the same Google Account you were previously using on your android phone and accessing the same Google Nest "home/structure", you should have seen the same devices you saw previously in the Google Home app on your android phone.

Hi folks,

Thanks for the help, @MplsCustomer.

@roosterjb14, thanks for posting. I know how it feels when something isn’t working as it should. A few things: which Nest speaker are we working with? Is this how you did the factory reset? What is the distance between your Nest speaker and WiFi router during setup? Are you using a dual band router? If so, did you try both bands to isolate the issue?

You can do a sequential reboot. First, unplug your Nest speaker for 30 seconds, then do the same thing to your Wi-Fi router to refresh both devices and your Wi-Fi signal. Then attempt the set up again.

Let me know how it goes.

Regards,

Juni
