Google home won’t link to Spotify

Hi!

im having issues linking my Google home to my Spotify. When I try to link it through the app on my iPad, sometimes Spotify will open, I get a tick, Google home reopens, and then I get an error message. Sometimes the link button doesn’t work, and sometimes I don’t get as far as Spotify opening.

I’ve tried using my phone (iPhone) and I’ve tried turning off wifi, resting my router, deleting both apps on both devices.

Please help!

Thanks for posting ― let’s check this out.

 

Give these steps a try: 

  1. Make sure your mobile device is connected to the same Wi-Fi or linked to the same account as the speaker or display.

  2. Open the Google Home app.

  3. At the top right, tap the account (the icon with the customer’s initial or profile picture).

  4. Verify the Google Account on screen is the one linked to the speaker or display. To switch accounts, tap the down arrow icon  and then choose another account or Add another account .

  5. Go back to the home screen.

  6. Tap Add and then Music.

  7. To choose a default service, select the preferred music service available. The Assistant uses this choice when the customer uses the voice command “Hey Google, play music.”

  8. Link function:

  • For YouTube, the account is automatically linked when you set up the speaker or display. 

  • For Spotify, Apple Music, Pandora, and others, you need to link your account.

    • To connect the account, tap a music service and then Link Account and then sign in or sign up for the service and then follow the in-app steps.

    • To unlink an account, tap Unlink and then Unlink account.
