Google mini still linked to previous user after multiple factory resets

I've found previous threads around this issue with no apparent solution.

I have done a factory reset multiple times, reset my router, restarted my phone and each time I get an error message when trying to re-add my Google Home Mini: "This device was previously set up by a different user, please factory reset the device."

 

Please advise..

I think there are a couple of ways to do a factory reset.

I've used the factory reset button on the bottom of the speaker with and without the mic turned on. What other ways are there?

Thanks, I've done the 1st method multiple times (I have a Gen 1) and just performed the 2nd method you shared above as well, both don't resolve the issue..

Looks like you'll have to continue with attempts to factory reset or dispose of second hand speaker.

I searched for "change linked account" in the Google Home app help

I just deleted the home app on my phone and re-installed.. Seems to have fixed the issue. Looks like a new version was available but never updated in my app store.... Thanks for replying and assisting!
