I recently purchased a google nest second generation wired doorbell. On initial installation the light blinked yellow and the inside chime rang continuously. I replaced the transformer hoping it would address the problem (16V, 30 VA) and confirmed the voltage at the front door. No improvement. I replaced the three lead wired chime, without success and have also disconnected from the second doorbell to remove that variable. No improvement. The only modification that seems to power the camera properly is removing the diode provided with the chimes required to power the chime. When removed the doorbell will connect to wifi and take video / pictures, but not trigger the chime. Have also tried replacing the diode with a new one. and configuring the settings in the app. No luck.
Not sure what else to try. Thoughts?
(have also tried with and without the puck… but the chime won’t trigger at all without the puck)
Perhaps it is a defective chime puck?

Other customers in this forum have reported defective chime pucks for their 2nd gen Google Nest doorbell. You'd have to contact Support, using the link and instructions in this post, to try to get a replacement puck:
I don't know anything about using a diode, like the one provided with your chimes.
Is your chime puck wired as shown in the diagrams in this post?

So, I bought a new one and it worked fine. It was a defective product. Thanks for the advice. Now potentially stuck with the original defective doorbell as past the two week return policy. Ugh.
