hi I've had Google home for about 2 years now. About 6 months ago every night at 930 my hub display gives direction information to a different a different town. I've looked into trying to turn this notification off however I don't know how it even starting doing this in the first place. Any ideas on how to turn off.

Hi @Alonzo2,

Unlike some other devices, Nest Hub itself doesn't actually display the time zone setting. Here's why:

  • Automatic Updates: Nest Hub relies on your Google account location settings to automatically determine the time zone. This ensures it displays the correct time based on your location.
  • No Manual Setting: There's currently no option to manually set the time zone directly on the Nest Hub device.

However, you can indirectly check the time zone your Nest Hub is using by following these methods:

  • Verify Phone Location Settings:

    • Since Nest Hub leverages your Google account location, the most likely way to check the time zone is through your smartphone.
    • Go to your phone's settings and navigate to the Location section (exact steps may vary depending on your phone model).
    • Ensure location services are enabled. The time zone displayed here should be the same one your Nest Hub is using.
  • Check Home Address in Google Home App:

    • If you've set a specific home address within the Google Home app, that address determines the time zone for your Nest Hub.
    • Open the Google Home app on your phone or tablet.
    • Tap the Settings icon (gear icon) in the top right corner.
    • Select "Home information."
    • The time zone for the listed address is what your Nest Hub should be using.
  • Change Language in Google Home App:

    • This method adjusts the language used by both Google Assistant and the Nest Hub display.
      1. Open the Google Home app on your phone or tablet.
      2. Tap on the Settings icon (gear icon) in the top right corner.
      3. Scroll down and tap on "Google Assistant".
      4. Select "Languages".
      5. Choose English (US).
    • This will update both Assistant responses and the Nest Hub display text to your chosen language.
  • Using the Google Home App:

    1. Open the Google Home app on your phone or tablet.
    2. Tap on your Nest Hub device icon.
    3. In the top right corner, tap Settings.
    4. Scroll down and tap on "Routines".
    5. You'll see a list of all your routines. Look for one that might be named after the town you're receiving directions to, or a routine scheduled for 9:30 pm.
    6. If you find the relevant routine, tap on it.
    7. Toggle the switch off to disable the routine.

By checking your phone's location settings, in-app home address, Google Home language and routines, you can identify any discrepancies. You can then adjust the time zone in those respective settings, which will automatically update the time zone on your Nest Hub.

Regards,

Brandon.
