We have a university WiFi specifically designed for smart tvs and speakers, where we have to add mac address of the devices in the portal to register them. So that they can be connected to the WiFi without any prompt, it's an open network with device registration.
None of the google devices are connecting, where as I could connect all other laptops, phones and smart speakers like Alexa.
Does anyone know what is the issue with Google devices and a solution to this?

Hola, respondiendo a tu pregunta.
Saludos!

Hi there,
Thanks for posting here in the Google Nest Community.
This is not the experience that we wanted you to have, let me help you out. School network Often have captive portals for sign-in or have AP isolation enabled to limit access between members on the network. If their system is allowing you to add the Mac address so your device can work, check the steps below.
How to locate the Google Nest or Home device's MAC address:
Hope this helps.

Juni

Hi Juni,
Thanks for the reply, but this won't help me completely.
After some exploration, I figured out that nest is connecting to wifi using the randomized mac address by default. So even after knowing the device's mac address and registering that with the wifi network, it won't get connected because Nest, Google TV, and even pixel is using randomized mac addresses.
In pixel, I could explore the wifi settings privacy options and change the default to 'Use device MAC address' instead of randomized MAC address, and it is connecting to the network now.
So, I would like to know if there is any way to change the Nest and Google TV default wifi privacy settings to make it use the device's mac address.

Hey Deep7,
Our team checked this and informed me that the device will connect to the MAC filtered network, but can't access the Internet initially as it defaults to randomized MAC. However, it will allow you to go to GTV settings and "Use device MAC". You may need to toggle to randomize MAC first then toggle back to Use device MAC. Check the detailed steps below:
Let us know how it goes.

Alex
