Our home has a dual-zone HVAC unit. Occasionally the damper on our HVAC unit will get stuck, and the unit will run even though no AC/heat is running.
While we can usually catch this if we're home - if we're asleep sometimes the unit will run all night which can drive up our electric bill. Is there any way to set up an automation to turn the thermostat off if it has been running for a certain amount of time (or if the temperature isn't heating/cooling as it should)?
We have the normal Google Nest thermometer (not learning) if that helps!

Hi darthvannah,
You can create or adjust the temperature schedule of your Google Nest thermostat the way you want in the app or directly on the thermostat.
Unlike traditional programmable thermostats that simply use their fixed temperature schedule, even if nobody’s home, your Nest thermostat can also help save energy and keep your home comfortable with its temperature schedule. Check this link for more details.

Hi darthvannah,
Just one quick final check in here since activity has slowed down. We'll be locking the thread in the next 24 hours, but if you still need help, I would be happy to keep it open. If there's more we can do, just let me know.
Thanks,
