How do I manage two separate Google Homes effectively

Spanner06

I have Google Home setup with two separate 'Homes', but both are connected to my one Google account.

If I say "Hey Google, play music in the kitchen" is will start playing in both homes.
If I say "Turn on my lamp" it turns on my bedside lamp in both homes.

They are in completely different locations and the only common link is my Google account.

Is there a way to divide these, so I can still be in both, but my local commands only work in the home to which they're connected?

Hi @Spanner06!

Thanks for posting in the community.
I apologize for the inconvenience that you’ve been experiencing when using Google Assistant with your devices. I understand that you have two different locations, and you have smart home devices in both locations. When you use the Google Assistant to turn on the devices in one room, it will turn on the devices in the room in both locations, and you would like to have the devices separated by locations. No worries, help is here.

I will recommend you create one extra home structure in your Google Home app, and then you will have two structures, one for each location, and you will be able to separate the devices. You can check more information about this in the next article: Organize your homes and devices in the Google Home app

If you have any other questions, you can keep posting.

Regards,

Daniel.

Thanks, however I already have two homes setup and the devices as split across them.

The devices turn on in both homes when saying “kitchen” for example.

Hi @Spanner06!

Thanks for your reply and for clarifying the situation. I can see that you already created two different homes and separated the devices between them, but the trouble persists. When you ask the Google Assistant to follow the command, do you ask it to any Assistant-enabled device, such as a Nest speaker or Nest display, or do you use the Google Assistant on your phone?

I'll be waiting for your response.

Regards,

Daniel.
