How to get Meross smartplug to choose 2.4hz over 5hz?

I'm trying to setup my outdoor Meross plug and it ask me in the setup procedure to add to 2.4hz, but I have no idea how to choose between the two, it's easy on my router, there is typically two different logins, how do I set that up for Google wifi?

Hi MisterHaug,

Thanks for reaching out. The Google Wi-Fi broadcasts both 2.4 GHz and 5 Ghz simultaneously. You could just select the network name of your Google Wi-Fi network during the setup.

Let us know how it goes.

Thanks,

Edward

Well, that's the thing, I only see one network, is there a place on the Google Wifi where I can choose 2.4GHz vs 5GHz? I'm well aware of it on routers, Eero etc, but it's not straightforward with these Google Wifi units, I'm missing something somewhere, I know, but where haha. If it's supposed to adapt to the 2.4GHz automatically then it must be broken, it simply will not connect and ends up asking me (in the app) to choose 2.4GHz, but that's not where available to pick and choose.

Hi MisterHaug,

Thanks for the response. Devices that support only the 2.4 GHz band (an older phone, for example), will automatically connect to the 2.4 GHz band. Most dual band devices that support both 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz will automatically pick a band based on different factors like signal strength and guidance from the mesh Wi-Fi system. If your device is not connecting, one possible workaround is to walk far enough away to get the phone to drop back to connecting at 2.4GHz.

Let us know how it goes.

Thanks,

Edward
