How to turn on philips (Google Tv 2023) with Nest mini ?

Hello

I was trying to turn on my Philips google tv (PUS8808) 2023  (built in chrome cast) with Nest mini but everytime the command is rejected by nest mini following by " it's look like the TV isn't available right now"

It can turn it Off but not On

I tried almost everything

Connecting the Tv with google home app

Updating firmware of both TV and Nest mini

Removing and adding the TV again

Checking for system update and etc.

What can i do ? Is it impossible to do it ? Or is there something that i missed to do?

FYI: I searched a lot but mostly the results are for chrome cast and the HDMI-CEC but there is no HDMI because the chrome cast is built in.

It was working on my Samsung TV (tizen) but now with google tv from google it doesn't work ?

  1. Ensure both the Philips TV (Google TV 2023) and the Nest Mini are set up and  connected to the same Wi-Fi network. The TV should be compatible with the Google Assistant.

  2. On your smartphone or tablet, open the Google Home app and ensure that both the TV and Nest Mini are added to your account.

  3. Make sure that the HDMI-CEC (Consumer Electronics Control) feature is enabled on your Philips TV. This feature allows the TV to turn on or off automatically when it receives signals from connected devices like the Nest Mini.

  4. On your Nest Mini, use the wake word "Hey Google" or "Okay Google" to activate the Google Assistant.

  5. To turn on the TV, say a command like "Hey Google, turn on the TV" or "Okay Google, power on the TV."

  6. The Nest Mini will send a signal to the TV through the HDMI-CEC connection, and the TV should turn on if everything is set up correctly.

Please note that the exact commands and setup might vary depending on future updates to the Google Assistant and any additional features that might be introduced with Google TV 2023.

If there are specific features or integrations available for Google TV 2023, I recommend referring to the official documentation and support resources provided by Google or Philips to get the most up-to-date and accurate information on how to use your devices together.

Thank you for your answer, i already saw this article in google website and

1- they are both connected to the same wifi

2- they are both connected to the same account

3- as i mentioned it's chrome cast built in so there is no HDMI connection to the TV via google chrome cast to trigger the turning on command so (NO HDMI-CEC NEEDED)

4&5- I know how to send command to nest mini

6- There is no HDMI connected to the TV to send a signal

Hi folks,

Thanks for the help here, sada33.

Arvinnl, thanks for reaching out. Is the CEC enabled in your TV settings? Make sure it’s enabled, then try it once more. You can check your TV’s manual for instructions on how to do it. You can also try the steps below and let me know how it goes:

  1. Unplug the TV > wait 10 minutes> plug it back in.
  2. Try a different voice command.
  3. If the TV is turned on or off repeatedly during a short time, the voice commands might not work. Wait about 10 minutes > try again.
  4. Ensure that the TV is properly linked to the speaker or display .
  5. Reboot the router.

Regards,

Juni

For who try to find an answer

  • Consumer Electronics Control (CEC) is a feature of HDMI designed to allow users to command and control devices connected through HDMI by using only one remote control. For example, by using the remote control of a television set to control a soundbar, set-top box and or Blu-ray player.

As i mentioned HDMI-CEC is not the case here, because i don't have google chrome cast connected with HDMI, the Phillips TV (55PUS8808) is a Google TV which means it has a Chromecast built-in  SOOOO it's not connected with HDMI

It's clearly some kind of energy saving problem cause google assistant can turn on the tv in the first couple of minutes after you turned it off. But after that, it just says the TV isn't available. Very disappointed in both Google and Phillips. It's such an annoying bug and all Phillips Android TVs have it but nobody is doing anything about it. And no, I won't fill out your form. The problem is simple and you can send it further.

PS: The solution is to install the Alexa app both on the phone and on the TV and allow remote wake up in it. That will prevent the TV from going in deep sleep and allow Google to work. Thx Alexa... =))
