How to wire a 3rd gen Nest thermostat from an American Standard one.

Can someone lead me as to how I connect my 7 wires to the 6 wire Nest?

Do I put both of the Y wires (Y, Y2) in the Y slot on the nest?  I was told to put the blue wire in the C slot and the rest of them to the corresponding letters but the Nest has an OB slot?  Is that for the white wire only?

Here's what I'm working with.

Hello sschultz,

Thanks for reaching out to our Nest Community. We are so happy to assist you with your questions about the Nest thermostat.

It looks like your new Nest Thermostat may not be compatible with your current heating and cooling system. Your system has 7 wires and uses 2 stages for heating and cooling, which might not be compatible with the Nest Thermostat's standard wiring requirements.

To avoid compatibility issues in the future, I recommend using the Nest Compatibility Checker before purchasing any new Nest Thermostat. This tool will help you determine if a Nest thermostat is compatible with your specific heating and cooling system.

  • Compatibility: Works with most common heating and cooling systems, including gas, electric, forced air, and more.
  • May require a C-wire in some cases, even if your home doesn't currently have one.
  • For dual fuel systems or systems with whole-home humidifiers/dehumidifiers, professional installation is highly recommended.

I hope this information is helpful! Let me know if you have any further questions.

Regards,
Kevin
