If you change your Wi-Fi password, network name or security settings, or install a new router from a new Internet Service Provider, you'll need to update the Wi-Fi settings for your camera or doorbell.

Recommended
If you're comfortable changing your router settings, you can change your new Wi-Fi network name and password in your new router's settings to be the same as the previous ones. Your devices should then automatically reconnect to Wi-Fi.  For step by step instructions on how to do this we recommend checking your router manual or online support documentation, or contact your Internet Service Provider or router manufacturer. If you're not comfortable doing this or are unable to do this keep reading for other options.

Google Home app
If you set up your camera or doorbell in the Google Home app, it's not possible to update it's Wi-Fi information using the app. If you want to keep your video history, don't remove your device from the app. Factory reset your device manually using its physical reset button or reset pinhole and then set it up in the Google Home app as a new device. You'll have two versions of your device in the app, one with older video, and one with new video.

Nest app
If you set up your camera or doorbell in the Nest app, there are two ways to update Wi-Fi settings, however both require your old Wi-Fi network to still be active. If you are able to temporarily reconnect your old Wi-Fi router either:

Important: Make sure to save any important video clips before you remove the camera or doorbell from the app. Once a device is removed, all of its recorded video history will be permanently deleted. Also, if your device is the only device covered under a Nest Aware subscription, make sure to stop auto-renewal or cancel a 1st gen Nest Aware subscription before you remove your camera or doorbell from the app.

If it is not possible to go back to your old Wi-Fi network temporarily, you'll need to factory reset your device manually using its physical reset button or reset pinhole, then wait up to 60 days for your Nest Aware video history to expire before you will be able to set it up again with the Nest app. The exact length of time depends on whether you have a Nest Aware subscription and if so the length of video history associated with that plan.

If you try to set the device up again before the video history has expired, you will see a camera is connected to another account error message. Unfortunately, there is no way to determine how long is left until the video history expires, so we recommend you periodically retry setup.
