Marking a reminder as complete on a Nest Hub Gen 2 is harder than necessary

On a Nest Hub Gen 2 I try to check off a reminder by tapping it on the home screen.

It takes me to the reminders page and tells me about the reminders I have, and displays subtiles showing what it's saying.

The subtitles cover the reminder text, even after I've told them to stop and the audio reading out of them has stopped. I want subtitles for text, but I don't want it to display at bad times, and cover key interfaces.

I then check off a reminder, and it tells me it can't do it because it hasn't verified my voice. It doesn't ask me to say something, so it can verify me, and then complete what I wanted. It just sits like a dummy, while I know I'm going to have to go to the reminders list page via Google Home app to check it off. Or go to the notification on my smartphone, which has it's own issues (that's a separate report).

Also, your forum categories are bad. None of them are relevant to this report.

Hi 111001010101111,

That certainly hasn’t been easy for you — let’s check it out. If it’s asking for you to verify your voice, that’s where we’ll start. Follow the steps below.

With the Google Home app:

  1. Open the Google Home app.
  2. Tap Home > Settings > Google Assistant > Voice Match > Other devices.
    • If you have more than one home, tap the home you want to add Voice Match to.
  3. Tap Get started > follow the in-app steps.
    • Note: To turn on Voice Match automatically for new devices in the same home, turn on “Automatically enable on future devices.”

With your Nest display:

Set up Voice Match directly on your Google display. You’ll need your phone and access to your display’s screen.

  1. Say “Hey Google, learn my voice” to your display.
  2. On your display, tap Let’s go.
  3. Select your account on the display. A push notification will be sent to your phone asking you to confirm whether it’s you trying to sign in on a new device.

Note: If you don't receive a notification:

Android: Go to Settings > Apps & notifications > [All apps] > Google Play services, and check that notifications are enabled. Then, you’ll need to start setting up your display again.

iOS: You may have notifications disabled. Open your YouTube, Google, Gmail, or Google Smart Lock app to check if the confirmation prompt has appeared. You’ll sign in to one of these apps on your phone for this to work.

  1. Tap Yes, it’s me to confirm.
  2. Follow the steps on your display to complete Voice Match setup.

Hope this helps.

Best,

Dan
