I want to have a daylong routine play music, but it will not save any edits to the routine. Just like adding any other action to a routine, when editing the routine, I hit add action, then play and control media, then select the type and enter what I want to play. I hit done and it goes back to the routine, gives the message about media must be last, and the action is there at the bottom of the list. When I hit save is when things don't work. The blue progress bar goes across the top of the screen like normal, but then the screen goes gray and the routines list doesn't show up. It will stay on that blank screen indefinitely. I can swipe to go back and it will go to the routines list. When I go to the routine, it has not saved the media action.
Media actions save and work in other routines. I am on the latest version of the Home app. I'm using a workaround of using a routine, "Routine 2", with just the media action to start 2 minutes after the time in the daylong "Routine".

Hi Dikeryn,
Is it possible for you to upload a screenshot of your routine so we can get a better understanding of what you are trying to do?
Or is it possible to just use a (+ Action > Try adding your own) command and type out your 'play music' command?

Hey Bryan86,
I know how it feels when something isn’t working the way it should - help is here. A few questions— was it working before? Are you using the ready-made Routines or are you using a custom one? When you click the Play the radio button, do you see an option to change it?
Looking forward to your response.
Thanks,
Alex

Any update on this?

Hey Bryan86,
Sorry for the delayed response.
To confirm, are you using custom Routines? Have you tried reinstalling your Google Home app?
Notes: Playing two or more media related actions wouldn't work within the same routine. A routine with the action to play the news first followed by the action to play music afterwards would overwrite the first command to play the news.
A routine with the action to play the radio first followed by the action to play podcasts afterwards would overwrite the first command to play the radio.
Best,
Alex

Hey all,
Checking back in if you still need help with this? I'll be locking this thread if we won't hear back from you again in 24 hrs. Should that happen, feel free to create a new one if you have more questions or have other concerns in the future.
Kind regards,
Alex
