My Nest Hub will not play Sirius XM

My Nest Hubs stopped playing Sirius XM about 3 days ago and I am ready to throw them out a window.  It keeps telling me that my trial subscription has ended...I have had this same account for over 3 years...I was NOT in a trial.  I have checked with Sirius and my subscription is just fine.  I have unplugged all devices...unlinked the Sirius app and relinked it to the Google Home about 8 times now.  I removed the Google Home app and re-installed it.  I have rebooted my internet, my phone, my devices and the Nests still refuse to play Sirius.

Hi @jennieg,

Thanks for posting in the community. I'm sorry to hear your Google Nest Hub stopped playing Sirius XM radio, telling you that your subscription has ended, which prevents it from playing. I understand how inconvenient this may be since you've confirmed you have an active Sirius subscription. I appreciate the detailed information shared and the troubleshooting steps you've tried, including contacting Sirius support. No worries, I'd be more than happy to assist you. To help with that, I have a few questions:

  • What's the command you use to play the radio?
  • Are you experiencing the same issue with other radio stations?
  • What's the firmware version of your Google Nest Hub? Please visit the next article to find your device's firmware version.

Any additional details you can provide will be helpful.

Regards,
Jonathan

The only way to get Sirius to play is to cast it through the app which is really a pain. What used to be an easy joyful experience where things just worked, is now a frustrating exercise in feeling helpless.

I am saying "Hey Google...play Radio Margaritaville on Sirius XM".  This is the same command I have been using for years.  I tried getting it to play other stations on Sirius and it won't play them either.  There are no issues with any other radio stations.  Sirius recently changed their app so not sure if that is the issue.  The firmware version is 3.76.463359

Hi @jennieg,

Thanks for your reply. Just to clarify something: do you have the same issue with other radio services? Also, since the radio issue only happens with Sirius XM, I recommend contacting Sirius XM support for further information, because they would be best equipped to troubleshoot service-specific concerns.

Please keep me updated on how it goes.

Cheers,
Jonathan

It's only Sirius.  I called them and we tried a bunch of things but they said it must be an issue with the Google Nest.

Hi @jennieg,

Thanks for your update.

A good option would be to factory reset your Google Nest Hub, as this can resolve some glitches that may be causing this radio issue. If the issue persists after doing the factory reset, I suggest you submit feedback directly from your device, if you haven't already. Just say, "Hey Google, send feedback," and provide as much detail as possible when prompted.

Please keep me posted.

Regards,
Jonathan

The factory reset didn't work.  Same message that I don't have a valid subscription.  Send feedback to Google but didn't give me any prompts.  Apparently this is an issue many are having with these devices.

Kudos to the respondent with the real fix. Uninstall Home andSirius on your phone. Reinstall Home only and then go through through the steps to add your Radio service. Sirius will come on through your browser and log in. It hung up the first time through the browser but on the second attempt it logged on. Go back to home and it eventually changed to subscription added. Only then did voice commands on my hubs and speakers did it work. Reinstall Sirius on your phone and you're done.
