My nest thermostat won’t connect to Wi-Fi

For a few months now my google nest thermostat won’t connect to Wi-Fi and can’t find any networks. It’s not the WiFi connection and I’ve done a factory reset several times.

Have either of you tried recharging your batteries on the thermostats?  I know the Nest will turn off Wi-Fi connectivity if battery resources star getting low.

Hello folks,

Thanks for reaching out, and I'm sorry for the late reply. I wanted to follow up and ensure you were good to go.

I appreciate your input, @SASiGirl53.

@Mattsanders, having the device show offline is never ideal. Let's jump in and get you back online. I did find a helpful article with some troubleshooting setup: thermostat doesn't show your Wi-Fi network. Let me know if that helps or if you're also getting any message codes.

@AWartonGarden, thanks for letting us know the steps you have taken. We'd be happy to look into this. Could you please fill out this form with the needed information? A member of our senior support team will be in touch over email to help. Let me know once you're done.

Regards,

Mark

Hi AWartonGarden,

Checking back in — how's it going? Have you managed to fill out the form? Please let us know so we can move forward.

Best,
Mark

I am having same issue with my next thermostat. The thermostat can’t operate without wifi at all. Why is that? I should be able to switch on thermostats from the dial itself?

Hello Rsadaphule,

I understand your frustration with your Nest Thermostat relying solely on Wi-Fi for operation. One primary reason is the ability to provide remote access and control through smartphone apps or web interfaces.

The Nest Thermostats can still function, such as adjusting the temperature directly from the thermostat itself. This should not be compromised in the absence of Wi-Fi. it can be essential in situations where internet connectivity is lost or during setup or configuration without an established network. To confirm, which type of Nest Thermostat do you have? Does it show any message codes in its settings? Also, could you give us a rundown of all the steps you have tried?

I'll look forward to your response.

Warm regards,
Mark
