Need ability to restrict temperature range for Guests without need for PIN

I need to be able to allow Guests to adjust the temperature range of the Nest Thermostat within a preconfigured range of temperatures such as 65-78 and nothing outside that range but any temperature within that range as they desire and when they desire. The Lock feature does not allow that, instead it requies a PIN to unlock to change the temperature. We need the Lock feature to allow setting a range of selectable temperatures without requiring the user to unlock the thermostat to adjust current temperature setting. It's a simple feature but valuable usage for Hosts that want to give Guests freedom but within a reasonable range.

I had Guests from Miami stay at our AirBnb over Christmas last year they set the temperature to 90F everyday and then left all day to enjoy the town. Everyday my temperature was measuring 90F and at night they kept it in the upper 80's. It was crazy.

I need a simple solution or I will look at another solution from another company. Please help.
I've seen similar posts requesting this feature and the Google Nest Response was very lacking and so I'm asking again. Please help.

Hey Bcausey,

Thanks for reaching out to the Community. I’d be happy to help you with the Nest thermostat. Let’s check it out.

If you have a Nest Thermostat E or a Nest Learning Thermostat in the US or Canada, when you lock your Nest thermostat in Heat mode or Cool mode, you'll set a temperature range after you create a four-digit PIN. Anyone can turn the thermostat's ring to change the temperature within the range you've set, but they won't be able to set the temperature outside of your range or change any of your settings.

You can check out this handy guide to learn more about how to lock and unlock your Nest thermostat.

Let me know if you have any questions.

Best,

Lance

Hi Lance - in my experience it does not work this way. I will set the range with the PIN, but to make any change at the thermostat requires the PIN, even if it is within the range.

Actually it seems it only works properly on heat OR cool - not if you want the range on Heat & Cool.
