Need thermostat to do only what I ask and no added help.

Nest thermostat.

I have to post here due to the cumbersom time consuming search to just find out how to set my temperature and be done with it.   No Eco, no help of any kind from thermostat.   No save me money features.   Just set the temperature regardless of mode.

I cannot turn off this Eco stuff, (Thermostat insists on saving me money but it is not), so this thermostat is getting dangerous and I am frustrated.   Even the people that installed it said they turned it off.

  1.   If we leave for a weekend the cats do not trigger the thermostat.  Last time we came home it was 58 which with Florida humidity is cold.
  2. Even worse and very dangerous is that if we leave for days in the peak of Summer the our moble home will heat up like a car does and can easily get way above 100 degrees.   Again the cats don’t trigger it.
  3. It is located at the end of the home were we frequent the least, forcing us to get up and walk by the thermostat to let it know it is sleeping on the job.   This in turn forces the AC unit to either heat or cool a much larger difference in temperature than if was simply to maintain what it was set for.
  4. The remote from iPhone says it is starting the unit but upon walking up to the thermostat you see it has not, and starts then.   So any convenience like starting before getting out of bed is out the window.  It insists on sensing someone’s body presence.
  5. I have a low grade fever today and it kept getting cold.   I had to continuously go to other side of house.   Needed a hot shower to get warm.   Getting sicker is not a cost saving feature.  Neither is the hot shower.

Please help me set the super duper thermostat to just do what I set it at regardless of mode.   Whether heat or cold or both.  Period.   It’s do what “it” wants instead of do what “I” want is not what I paid for.

Thank you.

Hello Joelpatt,

Thank you for reaching out to us and sharing the steps you've taken to troubleshoot the issue. I'm sorry to hear you're having trouble with your Nest thermostat. I'd be happy to help you check it out.

I have a few questions for you:

The Nest thermostats can learn your daily routine and automatically create a temperature schedule for you. If you prefer to disable learning and have your thermostat follow a fixed temperature schedule, you can turn Auto-Schedule off. That way the schedule won't change unless you make manual changes to it.

1. Turn off Auto-Schedule learning.

When you turn off Auto-Schedule, your existing schedule will remain but your thermostat will stop learning from your future adjustments.

Google Home app

  1. Open the Google Home app Google Home app.
  2. Tap Favorites or Devices .
  3. Select your thermostat.
  4. Tap Settings Settings gear and then Temperature Preferences and then Auto Schedule. Then select the mode you want to use: Auto, Suggestions, or Off.

Nest app

  1. Open the Nest app, then select your Nest thermostat.
  2. Select Settings Nest settings icon and then Auto-Schedule.
  3. Tap the switch to turn it off.

On your thermostat

Choose Settings Nest settings icon and then Nest Sense and then Auto-Schedule and then Off.

2. Clear the existing schedule.

Before you decide whether to clear your existing schedule, here’s how to see it:

  1. Nest Learning Thermostat: Press the ring and choose Schedule Nest thermostat schedule icon.
  2. Nest Thermostat E: Press the ring and choose Settings Nest settings icon and then Schedule.

If you want to completely erase your existing schedule, follow the steps below:

  1. On your thermostat, select Settings Nest settings icon and then Reset and then Schedule.
  2. Depending on which Nest thermostat you have, select either Reset or Clear.

Note: If you have a Nest Thermostat E, you can select Basic to clear your existing schedule and replace it with the default Basic Schedule.

If you don’t set up a schedule after clearing it, your thermostat will stay at whatever temperature you set it to until you select a new temperature. This means it’ll work like a traditional, non-programmable thermostat or like “hold” mode on a programmable thermostat.

For more information, you can check this guide on how to disable learning for the temperature schedule.

Let me know how it goes.

All the best,

Lance
