Google no longer supports Gen 1 thermostat's is a simple revenue grab. I have 2 perfectly working stats that will have to be de-installed, put in a landfill (that’s not eco friendly) and I’ll have to buy two new stats and hire a contractor to reinstall. All in the name of growing Google revenue. No thanks, I’m moving to a less monopolistic provider if for no other reason to send a strong message that this practice in tech products is not acceptable. I don’t need a discount to buy a newer version. Apply those funds to allow perfectly working products to remain on your platform and deliver the services that I’ve already paid for.

They are expecting me to do the same with my Chromecasts because their crap software programmers or protocols won't let Google home app support the older devices even though there is nothing wrong with them. Just a way of trying to make more money by trying to get us to upgrade. Terrible isn't it.

Agree! This needs another solution. Or a replacement device should be provided at no charge!

I completely agree. It's a shameful grab and should be challenged in court.

It's a shame a company size of Google has such little regard for it's customers, even collectively as last I looked into it there were so many people affected by it

Completely agree. It smacks ofbad decision making, greed and short sightedness. Why would I want to buy any product from them again?

Great Job Google / Nest!!!
You terminate support for a product that works fine.
Little do you know I am in the market for another thermostat and smart home products. My support of Google / Nest products is officially terminated.
