Nest + Temp Sensor

We have a nest thermostat as well as a separate temperature sensor, both connected to Google Home. Google will tell us the temperature in either room, but it will not allow us to adjust the heat to match a temperature on the sensor.. Temperature can only be set relative to the thermostat. Is there a way to change this so that we can specify the temperature at either of the 2 locations?

Hello,

You should try a routine in Google Automation (https://home.google.com). I think it's possible.

What do you want to do exactly ?

Hi there,

Thanks for posting in the Google Nest Community forum. What type of Nest Thermostat do you have? Is it the Nest Learning Thermostat or the Nest Thermostat E? In what country are you located?

You can view your Nest Temperature Sensor’s status in the Google Home app, but can’t adjust its settings. Use the Nest app to connect your sensor to your thermostat and change its settings. Also, you can manually switch what temperature sensor is active with the app. This can help if you’re in a room that isn’t comfortable but has a temperature sensor that’s not currently active.

You can follow the guide below to manually change your active temperature sensor:

  1. Open the Nest app.
  2. Tap your thermostat on the home screen.
  3. Any temperature sensors you have connected to your thermostat will appear at the bottom of the screen. A dot will appear next to the currently active sensor.
  4. Tap another sensor to have your thermostat use it to control your system.

I appreciate your input, @Hollen_ar_mor.

Best,

Jenelyn

So the answer to the question is no, this feature is not available in the Google Home app. It is only available in the Nest app. Which leads to the important question, will Google migrate important features like this to Home before they stop supporting the Nest app? The answer will tell a lot of consumers whether or not to buy any more Google Nest products due to features being eliminated.
