Nest cam motion detecting fails sometimes

Usually it’s pretty good, sometimes it’ll pick up on things that aren’t there or the rain, but sometimes it won’t pick up on me pulling up out the front, or even walking 50 metres across my lawn which is in full view and then again walking back out, or driving off as well, no motion detection for over 6 hours but then 1 car with a spot light triggered the detection finally and I only just noticed it didn’t get anything else previous or within the 6 hours of nothing apparently (on a frequently busy street 24/7) when I clicked on that notification because it’s 4am and tried to see if anything has happened while I was out and couldn’t even see me leaving or getting back and now I’m worried.

i don’t need a camera that’s going to maybe not catch my crazy ex trying to break into my house, what’s the point if that’s a risk

Hello Danikalocky1999,

Thanks for reaching out here in the Community and for sharing with us your concern. To confirm, is the Airplane or Do Not Disturb mode turned off or on? Have you tried using a different mobile device and see if you could receive your notifications there? Try turning off and on your notification for people, vehicles and motion. Make sure you're signed in to the right account. You might want to consider setting up your activity zone. Keep us posted.

Regards,

Emerson

Hello Danikalocky1999,

I'm dropping by to ensure that everything is covered here. How's it going with your Nest Camera? We would appreciate it if you could share with us the information I’m asking above. Also, were you able to perform the steps I’m suggesting? We'd be glad to hear from you.

Thanks,
Emerson

Hey Danikalocky1999,

Just one quick final check in here since activity has slowed down. We'll be locking the thread in the next 24 hours, but if you still need help, we would be happy to keep it open. If there's more we can do, just let us know.

Best,
Emerson
