Nest cameras

I recently bought nest doorbell and nest max hub, but I don't know how to use the 2 apps, Google home and nest app that this one is confusing me.

Doorbell (battery), I can only see it on Google home and I can see the video history as well, I cannot download the videos, but in nest app I cannot see the doorbell.

Nest hub max (with camera), I can see it on Google home and on nest app, but on Google home I don't have the video history videos, on nest app I have the pictures history but the events are only pictures and no videos.

Is it possible to have the history (videos) for nest max hub on Google home? I don't understand the utility to have 2 apps for 2 devices.

I really don't like nest app 😒

Why is not possible to download a video from history?

Thank you.

@Stef2

All of what you say is true.

To download an event (you can't edit your own event), go to the camera in the Google Home app, click History, then Full History, then click on the event you wish to download, then click on the "More" icon (the 3 dots) in the upper right corner, and then select "Save clip to device".  On an iPhone, it's a little flakey, and you have to give the Google Home app permission to access at least selected photos (that is, the downloaded videos), and the permission thing doesn't always show up, or it just says "Download failed" with no explanation.

For the Google Nest Doorbell (Battery) you get event video history free for the most recent 3 hours.  For the camera on the Nest Hub Max, you need a Nest Aware or Nest Aware Plus subscription.  The Google Nest app actually has better capabilities for saving clips, and you can edit your own if you have a Nest Aware Plus subscription, and you can access it on the home.nest.com website.

Unfortunately, none of that clip editing capability is available for the newer cameras and doorbells,due to Google Nest's decision. This is what Google Nest's Vice President said a year ago about their 2-app decision; there has been no update whatsoever since then: https://www.googlenestcommunity.com/t5/Blog/Message-from-our-GM-Updates-for-our-Nest-customers/ba-p/...
