I don't understand why there would be a reason to have a doorbell (wireless or wired) that would not have the option to chime if it's wireless? What is the point of the doorbell at that point if you cant hear it in the house when rung?
Why is the option to head visitor announcements disabled for the battery powered Nest doorbell camera? Can someone explain if there is a way to enable this or get around this without installing a transformer and wired connection? I do not have option to get it wired.
The "Visitor announcements" option should NOT be disabled for the battery doorbell, but the "Indoor chime" option is disabled (along with some misleading text on the screen) if the battery doorbell is NOT wired, since the doorbell is not connected to any indoor chime. If your "Visitor announcements" option IS disabled, something is wrong. (These options have different names in some languages and countries.)
"Visitor announcements" work with Nest Minis, Nest Hubs, and Nest speakers:
Sorry I meant to write that the Visitors Announcement is enabled but the Chime indoor is disabled. What is the point of a doorbell if it cannot be heard inside with a chime? At least it would make sense to be heard of a Google device since it is part of the same ecosystem. Is there a way to connect over wifi or Bluetooth or some other way with it both being in the same room as the Google Home mini?
Is there a solution to that Google has or will roll out in the future or that you can help with?
I'm a bit confused by what you're asking.
If you have a wired indoor doorbell chime, it has to be wired to your doorbell and your transformer in order to ring. If you have a battery doorbell that is not wired, then the "Indoor chime" option is disabled because the doorbell is not connected to a chime or transformer.
If you want to receive "Visitor announcements" on all Nest Hubs, Nest Minis, and Nest speakers in the same Google Nest "home" via Wi-Fi when your doorbell button is pressed, see the "Visitor announcements" link I provided earlier.
I can understand that the indoor chime needs to be wired in order to work but why cannot the Google nest mini act as a chime? Wouldn't that be convenient for those who use a battery powered doorbell?
Additionally, I have enabled Visitor announcements since I have installed this battery powered Nest doorbell and the same wifi is being used for all the speakers and the doorbell and still it does not provide announcements. Is there a solution you can help with there? Does a certain model of the Google home speakers only work with the doorbell ?
@Justinj12 thanks for getting back to us. How's it going with your Nest doorbell? Were you able to read what MplsCustomer has shared about having both your Nest Doorbell and Nest Mini on the same home structure in your app? Don't hesitate to update here.
I appreciate your answer, MplsCustomer, Archie and JT.
