New Geeni Smart bulbs not Available in Google home

mikey1273

I have had some Geeni smart bulbs for several years and they have worked fine no issues. A few months ago we had some new outdoor lighting installed. For the 3 fixtures I got a 4 pack of Geeni Tunable white Edison style smart bulbs. I set 3 of them up in the Geeni app. They show as online in the Geeni app and I can control them there but they do not show up in Google home. I have 6 other devices that are linked. I have tried to relink my Geeni app to Google  a few timesand the 3 new devices never show up. What am I doing wrong that I can't add these 3 newer lights?

Hello mikey1273,

Thank you for taking an interest in our community. I’m sorry to know that some of your bulbs' lights aren’t connecting as you expected to the Google Home app, so don’t worry; it's a pleasure to assist you.

Here are some recommendations that you can follow:

  • Ensure that your mobile device and the Google Home app are updated.
  • Check that you’re using the same account linked to both apps.

In the meantime, follow these steps to ensure that you’re connecting the lights correctly.

  • Plug in your bulb in the same room as your Google Home device.
  • Open the Home app.
  • Tap Devices > Add > Google Nest or partner device
  • Select the light bulb you’d like to set up. Your bulb will blink when selected.
  • Where is this device? Choose what room your bulb is in.
  • You can create a custom room by tapping Add custom room > type in room name > tap Next.
  • Create a unique name. Type in the desired name for the bulb that you will use for voice commands. We recommend using a contextual name like “reading light” or “overhead light.” For best results, don’t include the room name in the light’s name (we already know which room it’s in).
  • Setting up your smart light. Your bulb may blink a few times.
  • Your light is ready. Tap Done.
  • The setup is successful. You can now control your lights with Google Home.

Please let me know if these suggestions were helpful.

Best regards,

Daniel

The new bulbs that are not working in Google home are branded geeni, the once that work are branded mercury. Both bulb brands work in the geeni app, which is linked to my Google home account. The troubleshooting posted here has nothing to do with the issue since the bulbs are added through the 3rd party app geeni and not in Google home. Adding them in the 3rd party worked, but they don't show up in google

Hey Oodds84,

Thanks for staying informed. I appreciate the information that you have shared with me, so let’s explore more tips.

I can suggest following this useful article to set up the smart bulbs in the Google Home app: Connect third-party smart home devices in the Google Home app. Also, you can find there a list of the supported devices that are compatible.

I’ll be waiting for your response.

Best regards,

Daniel

The service is connected. 11 of 15 bulbs are working in Google, it's just the once that are labeled geeni which don't work in Google, just the once labeled mercury work in Google, but all 15 work in the 3rd party app

I have several Geeni Lux Edison ST19 bulbs that i cannot get to work in google home.  I have set them up in the 3rd party Geeni app and I can control them there. When I do the process to link my Geeni account and devices to Google those 3 bulbs that are on my porch are never available. I have other Geeni smart bulbs that i have used with google home in a few other rooms successfully for years.

With these 3 I removed them from my Geeni account and factory reset them 2x already, followed by setting them up in geeni app and then doing the process to link them to my Google home account but they still aren't available to select and add to a room or control in Google home.  The other Geeni devices i previously had still work.

The Geeni Lux Edison ST19 package advertised it is compatible with Google home and Amazon Alexa so the should work and that is why I bought them.

I have the exact same issue

Hey  Folks,

I really appreciate your time performing these steps described in the post. So I have more suggestions for you.

  • Make sure the wall outlet receives power. Check that your wall switch is on.
  • Turn the bulb off and on. The bulb takes up to one minute after receiving power to reconnect. Try your light and check if it works. If so, you’re done.
  • Try to use the bulb in a different lamp or socket.
  • Reboot the Wi-Fi router.

Send feedback from the Google Home app.

  1. Open the Google Home app.
  2. At the top right, tap the account icon.
  3. Tap Feedback and then tap the device to submit feedback.
  4. To display available emails, in the From section, tap the arrow on the right. Select the email address.
  5. In the feedback summary, write a brief description of the issue.
  6. Be sure to check the box for Screenshots and System logs.
  7. To submit feedback, at the top right, tap Send.

Let me know if you have any other questions.

Regards,

Daniel

I have the exact same issue. I have been using Geeni lights linked to my Google home for years. The account currently has 4 Geeni bulbs set up in my Geeni account, linked to Google Home, and the setup has been working beautifully for 3 years. I just bought new Geeni Lux 800 bulbs (on the box it says “works with Google Home), set one up in my Geeni app, it works fine in Geeni app, but when I add it / re-scan for Geeni items in Google Home, it doesn’t appear.

Hey Scotthillje,

Thank you for taking an interest in our community. I’m sorry to know that your smart bulbs are not working as you expected on the Google Home app. No worries, let's get this sorted out.

I can suggest performing all the troubleshooting steps listed on this thread, especially in this article: Connect third-party smart home devices in the Google Home app

Let me know how it goes, and if you have any additional information, please let me know.

Regards,

Daniel

Daniel,

These troubleshooting tips don't fix the issue. Thank you

I wish I could thumbs down this canned response

RESOLVED

I found a resolution for this issue. I tried it, and it worked for me. Use the Smart Life app.

I downloaded the Smart Life app, and signed up an account. I removed the new bulb that I had been trying to link from Geeni, which put that bulb into discovery mode (rapid flashing). In Smart Life I clicked Add, and it detected the bulb; now my new bulb is detected in Smart Life. Then I went to Google Home and clicked Add Device, Works with Google, and selected Smart Life. Once it synced with Smart Life, voila: my new bulb was recognized in Google.
Now I have 15 devices linked from Geeni and 1 bulb linked from Smart Life. If I want to be perfectly clean, I could remove Geeni and put all of the devices into SL, but it’s working, and I’m good. Hope this helps!

CONFIRMED. Works like a charm. Thanks and Merry Christmas

You are a God sent 😂 You know how long I've been struggling with this issue 😂 and as far as support. Please do better 😂

Hey, @moralesvicente I think there are too many people in this thread pointing out there is a bug and we are so stupid you need to resort to posting very basic results when we are all past that

can someone at GEENI set up a Google system and then test using some new bulbs from the assembly line and test it, please? New products don’t appear on Google. There is a problem, with the way the new items are not communicating with Google.
