My Nest doorbell has been sending regular email notifications for a couple of years. They stopped coming April 18th of this year. All my settings are properly set up. In fact I have not touched them since I got the doorbell. Not in junk mail either. Could some sort of subcription run out? I did not get any notificationis about renewing or the like. Any direction to solve this would be appreciated. Thanks

You are not alone. I see exacly the same issue recently. Have you managed to resolve it?

All of sudden tonight I got an email notification. Seems to working again. Will confirm again if it continues to work.

I contacted Nest support. They are insisting on it that I have to factory reset the doorbell. I cannot describe how painful is the lack of knowledge they have. (Absolutely unaware that doorbell press does not send email notifications, or the fact how Google provides access to these devices with the Smart Device Management API.) They do not want to escalate the ticket to engineering, because they have a few cases already where resetting the device solved this kind of issues.
I would be surprise if resetting the device wouldn't solve it, because that would straight ahead mean that for all devices the email notifications would not work.
I tried with two different email accounts, none of them is working since the 22nd of May.
The person who I talked to told me, that they cannot see the email notification activated on their side, even that I send screenshots of the settings set on the doorbell.
It is just nonsense. These doorbells are fully cloud connected, they do not do anything without the cloud, that they obviously have connection to because the push notifications works as well the API.

No. I was hoping someone on the forums could point me in the right direction to fix this issue. Thanks

I did get one email notification on May 30th and then it stopped as before. So still doesn't work for email notifications at all at this point. I would like notifications and it seems I should buy a different brand and see how that goes.

I have been in contact with support. A woman, named Althea, no family name, picked up the support ticket. Her ignorance and lack of knowledge is disturbing. I told them a month ago, when I received a single email notification just about at the same time when the Nest monthly email came in, that their email system has issues. She is telling me continuously that I have to reset the device to do all the troubleshooting steps, which is a nonsense. Their engineers would not even poke the issue if I would not do a reset. So I reset it yesterday, and guess what, no email notifications.
Thank god they are not manufacturing life saving devices. "You need to reset your device", hahaha...
Which other brand have you chosen?

@Jerry8, @PlankJr, @heylee - does any of you managed to resolve the issue with the missing email notifications?
I am not receiving notification since the 22nd of May, except a single time on the 16th June, when the same time a Nest Monthly report came in a half hour apart.
I am tagging all of you here, because the brilliant Support Specialist(s) closed the other topic already without resolving it. (I can imagine they paid by the closed topics, even if they solved nothing...)

My email notifications haven't worked except once in May since April. Anyone have any luck resetting or the like?
07-12-2023 06:24 AM
Reseting did not work for me... I am still waiting a reply from support.

I get email notifications but everything is still delayed. I was on vacation and kept getting the message pings to fill out an online form so they can help me but with MANY people having issues with notifications being 5 minutes delayed on multiple different platforms, wasting time filling out a form is not going to help me. They need to just fix their system.
07-12-2023 04:15 PM
All emails have ceased despite my correct settings.
07-13-2023 03:51 AM
@PlankJr, Thanks for the reply! The same situation here, tried all troubleshooting options, no luck, even reset the doorbell, that did not fix it either. Support is arrogant and useless. Not listening, not considering anything, just repeats the same thing over an over and has zero clue about the equipment.

Hi folks,
Thanks for reaching out and sorry for the delay, Could you all try to connect the mobile device to another Wi-Fi or cellular network? Signing in to your account on another mobile device and triggering a notification to test might also help isolate this.
Regards,
Juni

No, that doesn't help either. My husband nor myself are receiving on time notifications through email or mobile, while home or on vacation in another state.

Juni,
Would you mind your business and do some help somewhere else?
I can give millions of useless advices as well.
It took me a month to finally get a bug report recorded by the useless support that Google provides. And I would really like if you you would go somewhere else and give your best advices someone else. Unlike your colleagues did in the other topic which was closed a few weeks ago.
Regards,
G.

Funny thing, that the emails look different than before. It has the time and date and the image, but the formatting of the text and the text at the end is completely different than before.
08-12-2023 08:40 AM
Still not getting emails.
08-17-2023 02:50 AM
I received an email from support with the following today:
our engineering team already released an update stating that it should work by now.
I replied them that I receive email notifications, but people here are still not, so it is not globally solved. Also I am waiting for an update on what was causing the issue and how was it resolved.
08-11-2023 04:25 AM
No. I haven't had any notifications for quite some time now. The different formatting might be a sign they are working on something.
08-11-2023 04:41 AM
I had the same idea regarding the formatting. Feels like someone is trying to re-create it.
Try to turn it on and off on the camera, might start to work again...
Today I received multiple emails aligned with the push notifications and in sync on both email accounts.

@PlankJr, @ddingle - any update on your side? Is it working already?
I received this lovely answer from support regarding my query of what was causing it:
We thank you for all of your patience and cooperation in this matter. About your queries to what are the factors or caused by the said issue, our engineering team respectfully declined to reveal behind the scenes proprietary activity that would probably take a tedious amount of time to explain. We are here to fix issues when possible and economically viable, which we seemingly have done in this case, not provide explanations of our business practices or technology. Again thank you and have a great day ahead.

I still don’t get email notifications. Only iPhone notifications. I figure I have some deep setting not working in my Nest or Home app.
08-26-2023 07:18 AM
I haven't got any notifications since the one or two times in May. Pretty much given up.
09-12-2023 02:39 PM
I got several email notifications today! Hopefully it just keeps working!
09-12-2023 05:37 PM
I’m getting them now too!
09-13-2023 04:30 AM
Now I am getting a LOT more notifications than ever before. Lots of "activity" notifications that i don't recall getting in the past. About a half a dozen overnight. Nothing visible in the image that I would call activity. I also get the "person" notifications when taking the dog out which seem to work as expected. I wonder if I can turn off "activity" notifications
09-13-2023 09:17 AM
I found the setting for notify for motion and turned it off. Hopefully that will eliminate most of the unnecessary notifications.
