Outdoor doorbell

Hi my doorbell has a round mist in the centre of the screen when I view it on my phone. I’ve taken the doorbell off to charge it and I can see on the inside of the lens small dot on mist. Can I do anything to sort this or is it because of the winter weather?

Hi Jconnor,

Thanks for posting. I'm sorry to hear about the situation that you're experiencing with your doorbell, which has a small dot of mist on the inside of the lens. I appreciate the steps that you tried to solve the situation. I understand how important this is for you. Don't worry; help is here. I just need to confirm some information to provide the best solution.

  • Do you have a Nest doorbell? If so, what is the exact model that you have? You can check the "Technical specs for Nest cameras and doorbells" article to find out.
  • Can you please provide some pictures of the doorbell and the view that you have from the app?

Please keep me posted.

Best regards,

Jenny

I have nest doorbell battery, I’ve only had it less than a year.

Hi Jconnor,

Thanks for your reply and the information provided. After checking the picture that you provided. In this case, here you have some steps that you can try to solve the situation.

  • Restart the Nest Doorbell. For device-specific restart steps, refer to Restart or factory reset Nest camera or doorbell.
  • Clean the doorbell lens.
  • To clean the body, simply wipe it down with a soft cloth to remove any dust or dirt.
  • To clean the lens, gently wipe away any dust with a soft, lint-free cloth. Eyeglass and optics cleaning cloths are ideal to remove dust and oily fingerprints, and they don't damage lens coatings. You can also use a compressed air duster made for electronics.
  • For tougher smudges, like oily fingerprints on the lens, use a damp cloth with a drop of cleaning solution for cameras, eyeglasses, and other optics.
  • Ensure that the exterior of the doorbell lens is clear of any dirt or spots. For cleaning instructions per model, refer to the Help Center article How to keep your Nest products clean.

Please keep me posted.

Best regards,
Jenny
