Who can voice activate personal routines via Nest speakers? Just the person, or is it other family members too? The documentation suggests only creating and editing are restricted, not activating.

Thanks for reaching out. 

For Personal Routines: only the person who creates the Routine can use and edit the Routine. This type of Routine is best used to automate personal devices and services. For example, you can have an Assistant inform you about upcoming meetings. You can check this article for more information.

Hi, and thanks for responding.

I've now had the chance to experiment a bit and found that a family member in my household can voice-activate via Nest speakers a personal routine I create (and which they cannot see or edit in Google Home). The routine operates various smart devices in the house but does not access any stored data that is private to me … Maybe that's why it's permitted?

Yes, you're right! If you turn on personal results and your voice match is enabled, your Nest speakers will only provide general information or perform the general task of your routines.

Hey there,

You're right about the Personal Routines however for Household Routines, all eligible home members can create and edit Routines for your home. This type of Routine is best used to automate home devices that everyone in the home uses. For example, adjust the lights when the TV turns on. Here are some additional information about it.

• Anyone in the home can start a Household Routine.
• All home members can check when a Household Routine starts through the History view in the Google Home app.
• A Household Routine can start when a device does something.
• A Household Routine can’t give personal results, like events or reminders from a home member’s calendar.
