Samsung Washing Machine

Hello everyone,

I got a Samsung washing machine and I connected it to both the SmartThings App and linked it to my Google Home App.

I can see the washing machine on the Google Home App and my Nest Home Speakers/Display are acknowledging that the device is connected but whenever I try to control it or even ask about the status of the cycle Google assistant will always reply with "the washing machine is in safety shotoff mode so it has to be adjusted by hand"

Tried looking some answers in here and looked everywhere online but I couldn't find a solution for my problem.

Thanks in advance for any tip 💚

It seems like there might be an issue with the communication between your Samsung washing machine, the SmartThings App, and Google Home. Here are some troubleshooting steps you can try to resolve the problem:

1. Check for software updates:

Make sure your Samsung washing machine is running the latest firmware update. You can check for updates through the SmartThings App.
Ensure the SmartThings App and Google Home App are up to date on your smartphone or tablet.

2. Refresh the device connection:

In the SmartThings App, remove and re-add your Samsung washing machine as a device.
In the Google Home App, unlink and re-link your Samsung washing machine from the SmartThings App.

3. Reset your washing machine:

Consult your washing machine's manual for specific instructions on how to perform a factory reset.
A factory reset will erase all stored settings and preferences, so make sure you have a record of any important settings before proceeding.

4. Verify network connectivity:

Ensure your washing machine, smartphone, and Google Home devices are all connected to the same stable Wi-Fi network.
Check for any network connectivity issues or signal interference that might be affecting communication.

5. Contact Samsung support:

If the issue persists after trying these troubleshooting steps, contact Samsung customer support for further assistance. They may be able to provide more specific troubleshooting steps or identify any hardware-related issues.

Thanks for your recommendations. I tried all of them and nothing would fix the problem, however today I tried something else and it seems to help.

What I found out was that you can choose to activate the remote control option or the manual hand control option, meaning after you fill your washing machine with your laundry close the door of your washing machine and add your detergent, after that instead of pressing the "Star/Pause" button press on the "Smart control" button the button has a logo of "mobile with wifi signal", after you press that button the washing machine door with get lucked and you'll be able to control it with Google assistant and the SmartThing App.

Here's a picture of the button with an article on "How to control the washing machine with SmartThings" that I found on Samsung UK website.
