Saving Energy Google home and Google home nest hub 2

I'm interested in learning how to conserve energy while using my Google Home and Nest Hub 2. Are there any ways to save energy without having to unplug them from the power source?

In theory you could put them on a smart outlet , but the truth is these devices use VERY little power, and will not make a noticable difference in your energy consumption if they are left on.

A hub max 2 idles around 5.75 watts or so.. constant usage for the whole year, at average norther American rates, would work out to maybe 5 dollars a year. The cost to install a smart outlet would exceed that quite quick, and would also mean your devices are not ready when you want them.

@Idalar the Nest Hub has a 5 minute screen time-out setting under Display in Google Home app device settings page.

There are other settings to alter there as well, like dimming the display.

Keeping volume as low as possible should save some too.
