Since yesterday, I have been receiving a shared control notification from YouTube. When I clicked the notification, I found an unknown Android TV is being visible in Google Home under the Other Cast devices tab. Moreover, a TV box-like symbol is visible at the top of my android smartphone screen. Upon landing on the cast device page, songs are playing with volume controls visible. At the bottom, there are three options: 1. Add to a room, 2. Stop casting, 3 Open YouTube. Every time, songs are played on the connected device. I don't have any Android TV in my home, however, I use YouTube Music in two of my devices.
Kindly suggest the best possible way to remove the problem. Is my device hacked? I have run a security scan powered by Avast antivirus, it found nothing unusual.

Hi everyone,
Thanks for posting. To isolate this, are you using a private or a shared WiFi network? If private, is your router dual-band? Are other devices (phone, tablet, laptop) in your home experiencing the same behavior?
I’ll look forward to both your responses.
Regards,
Alex

Hi, thanks for wanting to help
Am using a shared optic fiber wifi with the neighbors, they own it
No I only find this problem on my phone, the thing I don't understand is how it got linked without my permission.. I found they had access to my Google photos! I tried my best to remove the connection from the Google home application and after hours of trying I think it worked.. am just worried how a such thing could happen

Hello Ghiz,
Thanks for the information. Normally, the Google Home app detects cast-enabled devices and built-in Google Assistant devices it can find on the same network your phone is connected to. Since you are using shared WiFi, your phone may get Cast media control notifications. What’s strange is when you say they have access to your Google Photos. Can you tell me what kind of access they have?
Kind regards,
Alex

Yes exactly, I went to Settings, videos, photos and videos then I found "See your photos on all assistant devices" activated. Idk what does this mean but I think if they opened Google photos on their tv.. then maybe they would have access to my pics which is the worse cuz it goes against my privacy. Who's fault is this? And how can I protect my accounts from linking to other devices without my permission.
Thanks

Hi Ghiz,
Only you should have access with your Google Account. To further isolate this, you can go to your Google Account settings and check all the devices connected to your account. You can also activate the 2-Step verification for an additional security before a device can log in to your account.
Sincerely,
Alex

I'm getting same problem and I also checked this Google photos thing and it was enabled!!!! They should clearly specify this while setting up a Google account or keep it turned off. This could be a privacy and security breach.
And the solution to the main problem, that shared media notification, just open Google play services in settings, open notifications, turn off toggle buttons for cast. It's happening because a n android TV, which is connected to the sane wifi as you, has Chromecast setting on.

Ok I am also facing the same problem but I have a question when this notification arrives is this possible that my phone getting casted to other's tv or it's just a normal notification to control the tv through mobile?
