Simple answers not known

Today I was doing some work preparing dinner and wanted to make sure I was not starting my cooking too soon.  So instead of me doing the math and saying it is 8 AM and 6 hours is 2 PM and then adding 2 more hours, I could get 4 PM as I cut my carrots and other items for dinner tonight. I said, "Hey Google" and asked what time is it in 8 hours, but you know what I got back???

"I don't know, but I found these answers on the web."

But if I asked, "Hey Google, what time is it" I get the time.

Logical says that AI even basic needs to learn otherwise, they are useless as an AI and thus an assistant in this evolving world. So I have to ask why does our Google not learn and evolve based on questions.

Limitations can exist if we are limited to the Memory of the physical box, but I have to believe with the Gen 2, the ability to leverage the Google Cloud should exist after all, that is what Amazon does with Alexia to leverage their AWS instances storage and learning.

@Andhanni

We're in the US.  I just tried asking one of our Nest Hubs (in English), "Hey Google, what time is it in 8 hours?", and got back the correct time 8 hours from now.

Hey there,

How’s it going? Still need our help?

Thanks for the help here, MplsCustomer, Juni and Nikki.

Best,

JT

That is weird I am in the ATL, and mine would not give me that. Not sure what configuration I have wrong.

Hi folks,

Thanks for the help, @MplsCustomer.

@Andhanni, thanks for posting. I know how it feels when something isn’t working as it should. A few things: is it a Nest Hub 2nd gen or Nest Mini? Is this isolated to this question only? What is its distance from your Wi-Fi router?

You can do a sequential reboot. First, unplug your Nest speakers for 30 seconds, then do the same thing to your Wi-Fi router to refresh both devices and your Wi-Fi signal.

Keep me posted.

Regards,

Juni

@Juni Sorry for the delay, got a bit tied up with life. It is a 2nd Gen Hub. I did reboot earlier today and will be testing tomorrow as time does not allows work with me considering my real job.
