Roger-BCN

n not start routines manually on Android from the Home App. No play button shown. It was working a few days ago. Suddenly, the play button disappeared.

Is anyone experiencing the same issue?

Hi Roger-BCN,

This is not the experience we want you to have, let me help you. A few questions: which Nest speakers are we working with along with your routines? Were there any recent changes made?

It would help a lot if you could do a sequential reboot first:

  1. Unplug the power cord of your router, followed by your Nest speakers.
  2. Plug them back in after 3 minutes.
  3. Restarting your phone might also help.
  4. Make sure all devices are on the same Wi-Fi network

Let’s isolate this further and keep me posted.

Best,

Dan

Hi Dan,

My problem has nothing to do with the devices. The problem is related with the Google Home app. Once the routines are created and listed on the Google Home app, there is no way to manually start them using the Play button.

That functionality was available a few weeks back, but suddenly, the Play button is gone, and there is no way to manually start a routine anymore. It doesn't matter if Household's or Personal routines, it doesn't matter which devices. Simply, the play button is gone.

The routines are still triggered by time or voice if needed, but not manually with the Play button on the Google Home app, because the Play button is gone.

Hope it helps.

Regards,

In addition, just found out that using the same Google Home App version (2.65.1.6), same location, same network and same user, the Play button is showing up on Android 10, but not showing on Android 13. That is a Google Home bug then.

Hey there Roger-BCN,

Apologies for the delayed response. Is there a chance that you can check if the play button on routines are available on iOS devices? If not, could you send a screenshot or picture showing the absent play button on routines?

Below are the steps on how to upload a photo or video:

  1. Hit reply or Start a new post.
  2. Click Insert Image.
  3. Choose an image source location.
  4. Follow the on-screen instructions
  5. Also, you can tap the "Drag and Drop" option. Maximum attachment is 5 MB.

Looking forward to your response.

Regards,

Dan

Hi there,

Thanks for the screenshot. What iOS version is installed to your phone? Do you have the Google Assistant app installed too?

I look forward to your response.

I'm not using IOS, the screenshot has been taken on the  Google Home app running on a Samsung S23 with Android 13. The Google Home app version is 2.66.1.13
