TP-LINK plug issue

sianny78

I have a few TP-LINK plugs (HS100), which generally work great. I use one to automate switching a lamp in my hallway on & off. The issue is, this was previously linked to a different "home" network (in this house but set up by my now ex-husband). Despite having done a forced reset on the plug & then relinking it to the current "home", it still keeps switching on at 3 pm when I don't want it to (& it's not set to in my automations). It's really annoying!! Can anyone help? 🙏🏻

(Apologies if this is not the right part of the forum to post this, but nothing really suited my issue.)

Hi sianny78,

Thanks for posting — let's get this sorted out. Have you already checked the routines set in your Google Home account? Routines is an account based feature, so it may reflect in this new home you created.

Kind regards,
Alex

Yep. It's set to come on at 20:30 every day.

Hello sianny78,

Have you already left the old home? Remove yourself and delete the old home from your Google Home account, then command the Google Assistant to “Sync my devices.”.

Best,
Alex

Hi Alex,

I believe I removed myself (and it was a different email address) from the other home, but couldn't delete it completely because I didn't set it up.

I tried syncing everything via Google Assistant but it has made no difference 🙁

I also have the issue that every time I open the Home app, I get a notification saying that my eldest son's account has failed to sync, even though I don't want it to (it's a school account, so I only have it on my phone to link to his Google Classroom).

Any other suggestions?

Hi there,

I appreciate you doing those steps. Have you already uninstalled and reinstalled the Google Home app? Give it a try if not.

Kind regards,
Alex

I have already done this. I even have a new phone. I have checked the Kasa app, which is what I believe you need to interact with the TP-LINK plugs & there's no automations set up in there.

The only thing I can think of is that it's somehow still linked to the old home and that is still running somewhere in the ether. I wouldn't event know how to get into it now though, if it hasn't actually been deleted. I'm so confused 😩

Hey sianny78,

Your efforts in taking the steps are appreciated. Another option we can try is to delete all Google Assistant routines set on your account. Go to My Activity and look for "Google Assistant routines" > Delete. If the issue persists, you’ll likely need to check with your ex-husband to see if your account was successfully removed from his Home structure in the Google Home app.

Warmly,
Alex
