Teach google minis to respond to the speaker name!

I have 3 google minis and 1 Alexa Echo and an Alexa thermostat downstairs in our family room, living room, and kitchen.  I have the googles spread out on opposite walls, at least 20 feet apart.  If I say Hey, Google, turn off the lights to the kitchen speaker, Julie, sometimes the family room speaker, Kate, will respond.  It takes all these minis about 3-4 seconds to actually turn off the lights.  If I tell Alexa, the lights go off immediately.  Why can I not address my named speakers by name so they don't have to hash through which room I am in and which speaker should respond?  I have First generation Minis, but I think this is a software issue, so it should not matter.

You should be able to say "Hey Google, Turn off Light in Kitchen" and no matter which speaker hears you it will only turn off the light in the Kitchen.

Different wake words like Alexa has would make things easier for everyone, but I can't see this happening now. Even an action button like Echos do would be helpful.
