Transferring music between speakers

So the latest in the long list of functionality that worked perfectly well for years then suddenly stopped....

 
Transferring music between speakers. I usually just say "transfer music to the living room" and it stops playing on the Nest Mini (2nd Gen) in the bedroom and starts playing on the Nest Hub (2nd Gen) in the living room. As of a few months ago it stopped working. The speaker still says "got it, I'll play it on the living room display" but then continues playing in the bedroom not the living room. Around 1 in 10 times after saying "got it, I'll play it on the living room display" the speaker goes on to say something like "I'm sorry, I don't understand what you wanted me to do" - which is odd given that it just said it was going to do what I asked.
 
I haven't changed anything in the setup. I am saying the exact same phrase every time - and asking slightly differently (e.g. "move music to the living room display") doesn't make any difference. I have tried resetting both devices. Both devices are on the same network. Both devices' firmware is up to date.
 
Generally I find that every 4-6 months something the speakers have been doing fine all the time I've owned them suddenly stops working and I waste hours going around in circles trying to get it back. Before this it was my morning routine that stopped sounding the alarm/turning on the lights which was disastrous for me - I've gone back to an old fashioned alarm clock because I cannot trust Google with the simple task of waking me up on time. It really feels like soon nothing will be working properly.

Did you ever get this working? I've gone through all the same steps. It sounds like it's about to transfer the stream, pauses and then back to the original speaker. Seems Google is trying to drive us nuts with gadgets that only half work!

Unfortunately not. I've tried everything and given up. Found plenty of people online complaining about the same problem but no solution. As I said in my original post I find that most weeks something that was working fine suddenly breaks for no apparent reason. It seems to just be the way of it with Google - no reliability.

Thanks for the reply mate. I will keep hounding Google to see what the issue is. I love a challenge! 🙂 I can transfer from a Google Nest Hub to a Google Nest Mini no problem. But from Mini to Mini doesn't work. I'll let you know if I ever get there.
