I have two nest protect smoke alarms and am unable in the home app to change the Wi-Fi network to a new router. When I try to enter the router name or LAN name and add the password it says unable to connect at this time. Seems to be repeatedly doing this. Any suggestions? The new router is set up and working on my phone and tablet and PC without issue.

Nest Protect is managed in the Nest app, it can't be managed using the Home app. Try these steps:

Hello everyone,
@waltgary thanks for reaching out here in the Community. How's it going with your Nest Protect? Were you able to read and check the link shared above? Nest Protect can't be set up with the Google Home app. You need to use the Nest app to set it up and to control it remotely. Also, Nest Protect can only be connected to a 2.4GHz Wi-Fi network. In case you have an update, you know where to find us.
I appreciate the help, davidking.

Emerson
