Unrequested everyday 8:25 chime

Larsologie

Every morning at 8:25, two Nest speakers in my home simultaniously (somewhat, it sounds very echoed) chime and say "Information about commute traffic" (in dutch, so I'm not shure this is the exact translation) and then nothing...

Why? But more importantly: How do I turn this off?

Hi There,

I've had this exact problem when i had my alarm set up to go off every day at a certain time and start playing NOS News. The alarm went off, news started playing and then the traffic thing happened with no info about trafic. Do you have an alarm set up that might be causing this?

No, but I did discover my friend has set up the routine in her own home that Google gives her taffic information at 8:25. Given the fact that she stays withe me regularly and that I've added her to my household will have soething to do with it.

But Home does this when she's not here. And it just chimes and give no actual traffic information.

Hi folks,

@Larsologie, @Xayo, this is not the experience we wanted you to have, let me help you. A few things: which Nest speakers are we working with? When did your issue begin? Were there any recent changes made?

It would help a lot if you could do a sequential reboot first:

  1. Unplug the power cord of your router followed by your Nest speakers.
  2. Plug them back in after 3 minutes.
  3. Restarting your phone might also help.

Once done, let’s edit the saved routines depending on your liking. If you don't want a Routine to run for a period of time, you can turn it off temporarily:

  1. On your Android phone, open the Google Home app.
  2. On the Home screen, tap Routines.
  3. Select the Routine you want to pause.
  4. At the top, turn off Activate Routine.
  5. Right below, tap Save.

To delete a routine:

  1. On your Android phone, open the Google Home app.
  2. On the Home screen, tap Routines.
  3. Select the Routine to delete.
  4. Up top, tap Delete > Delete routine.

Hope this helps.

Best,

Dan

Sorry, life happend along the way.

So, I have a girlfriend and we are living apart together. And she has Google Home set up at her place as well. Now she created a routine, in her home, that tells her what traffic is going to be like commuting to work. And it is at 8:25.

But every now and then she has to go to work from my place. And because she is at my home regularly, I have added her to my home. So I think I know where the problem originated from.

But she or I never requested this routine at my place. And it plays regardless if she is at my place or not. And furthermore, it doesn't give any actual information. It just states that it is going to give information and then it doesn't.

Now we've eliminated the problem by her deleting the routine. And thus the routine disappeared at my place as well. But this should not be the way to tackle this should it? She shoulf be able to create routines without these routines transfering to my home. And well, if the do, I should be able to find the routine in my home and delete it without deleting her routine in her own home. I think

To be thorough, if searched for the routine in my own home, I could not find it. So I could not delete it.
