My google home devices are only available in spotify but not in youtube music

Has been last this for 2 years. I can cast from Spotify from my mobile or my laptop to any of my 4 google home speaker devices or chromecast with no problem. From YouTube, all I see is Chromecast and none of the devices, and this either from my mobile or laptop. It seems that Spotify it better suited for Google home devices than YouTube Music?

Hi DrDavid,

Are you trying to cast from YouTube or YouTube music? Google Nest speakers will not be available to cast from YouTube (video) because they do not have displays.

The workaround for casting the audio from a YouTube video is to open the Google Home app on Android, select the device and then use the 'cast my audio' option.

Thank you that helps. My only lasting issue is that when I am on my laptop, using YT Music on my broswer (not videos), the only device that appears when I click "Cast to device" is my TV chromecast and none of the speakers show.

Hi again,

Are you using the YouTube music website linked below? The cast icon should be visible in the top right corner.

Youtube music:

Hi folks,

Thanks for reaching out — let’s see what’s going on. A few questions: what Nest speakers do you own? Are the Nest speakers and laptop on the same Wi-Fi network? Are you using a dual band router (2.4Ghz, 5Ghz)? If so, which band are your devices connected to?

See the steps below:

  1. If the laptop and/or computer isn't running Chrome, download Chrome.
  2. Ensure that the laptop and/or computer is running the latest version of Chrome. If having trouble, here's how to get Chrome updates.
  3. Though not required, it's recommended to pin the Cast button to your Chrome toolbar.
  4. Make sure the laptop and/or computer is connected to the same Wi-Fi network as the Google Home.

Appreciate the help, Cathal_S

Regards,

Juni
