Hello everyone! I have a setup where I use CapCut to edit capture-clips from my home security camera (connected to a Nest Hub display) and then save them for a review playlist on the Hub. Lately, I’ve run into a few small issues and I’d love to hear if anyone here has done a similar workflow or has suggestions.
Here’s my situation: I film motion-triggered clips via my Nest Cam, import them into CapCut on my device, trim and annotate key moments, then export and move them into the “Family Videos” folder that the Nest Hub picks up for showback in my living-room. The editing part works well — CapCut exports fine — but on the Nest Hub side: sometimes the edited clip doesn’t show the timestamp overlay, or the video doesn’t appear in the playback queue. I’ve checked that the video format is supported (MP4/H.264) and that the folder sync is enabled on the Nest Hub settings, but I still see inconsistent behavior.
My main questions for this community:
Has anyone used CapCut or similar apps to annotate or edit home-admin videos (security, baby-monitor, pets) and then show them via Nest Hub or Nest App?
What file export settings (resolution, frame rate, codec) have you found work best so that playback is smooth and consistent on Nest Hub devices?
Are there any recommended folder-naming or sync settings (in Google Photos/Drive) that ensure edited clips always appear on Nest Hub’s “what to watch” list?
Any tips, shortcuts or workflows you’re willing to share would be greatly appreciated. Thank you in advance for your feedback!

Hi @davidbaroosa,
Thanks for reaching out to the Community! I understand you’re seeing playback issues on your Nest Hub with edited Nest Cam footage. Specifically, it seems that clips edited in CapCut are intermittently missing from your playback queue or losing their timestamp overlays, even though you have already confirmed the MP4 format and folder sync settings are correct. Let me help you with this!
Before we move forward, I need a little more information to provide you with the most accurate steps:
Once you provide this information, I will be more than happy to assist you!
Best regards,
Debora
