Waste of money?

Well I have to say I'm not loving the Google Nest Max!

We previously just had google home mini - but it worked beautfully! Lights were recognised and activate and they worked on command. Routine was working well too. But on departing for a 5 wk holiday I realised that it would be better to get the Nest and properly set up routines for the lights etc...

So as I live in Paris - it was purchased locally.

The Nest is all in French and incredibly I cant change the language - yet google does this beautifully for me on every website I have visited while in Paris for the last 2 years!

Lights have gone and after 6 hours between Hue and Google - I am no further forwared. Lights not found... 'Somethings not working'

Instructions or guides? Non existent.. Hours trawling through this forum (thankyou! only place with any info)

I really wanted to love the Nest Max but I would have to say it is the most UN-USER Friendly gadget I have ever owned...

Any advice on my issues members?

Hi Corinne10,

Thanks for posting here in the Google Nest Community.

I’m sorry for the trouble this has caused you, let me help you out. Check the steps below on how to change the language on your Nest Hub Max.

To change your language:

  1. On your mobile device, open the Google Home app .
  2. At the top right, tap your account and then Assistant settings Languages.
  3. Tap your current language choose a new language.

Check this link for more information.

Now for the lights concern, do you own Philips Hue light bulbs that are successfully set up on the same WiFi network? Are you able to control your Philips Hue lights using the Philips Hue mobile app? Check the steps below on how to link your lights.

Sync your devices in the Google Home app

  1. Open the Google Home app Google Home app.
  2. At the top right, tap your account.
  3. Verify that the Google Account shown is the one linked to your Nest speaker or display. To switch accounts, tap another account or Add another account.
  4. Resync your linked smart home devices with the Google Home app. You can either:
    • Tap Assistant settings Home control select the partner Reconnect account.
    • Go to the Home tab, then swipe down with your finger on the screen.
  5. There will be a spinning circle. The sync is complete when the circle disappears.
  6. Check for your device in the Home control list.

Check this link for more information.

Hope this helps.

Best,

Juni

Thanks Juni, The device does recongise English as spoken but the device is all in French - so everything on the screen. This cannot be changed it seems.

Re the Hue - lights - I had to change the password to my network which then meant I had to re-add everything and this time I have managed to get everything linked.

Thank you for responding to my post
