(typically fail by Google search, by the way)
What does having different rooms in Google Home bring to the party ?
I have setup my Google home to match my real home with rooms (so I don't need a guide or howto), However I really can't see why. What does this do ?
I rather thought it would allow for a command like "Bedroom curtains" to be distinguished from "Lounge curtains". But messing around it seems not.
I am also a little suspicious that it appears to be secret knowledge - as I said searching for the answer everyone is saying how, no one is saying why.

I find that it allows you to simplify the naming structure of your devices as you can have multiple devices with the same name but placed in different rooms. You can also use a command like "turn off the living room lights" to turn off all the lights in the living room no mater what their names are.
In addition if you have a nest speaker attached to the same room, you can use the command "Turn on the lights" and assistant will turn on just the lights in that room.

I can say turn off the light as just a general command and it turns the light off in the room it hears the command in
