Yale Nest Doorlock - Add code with Home App instead of Nest

JoshL

Does anyone have an idea how to add a new door code to the Yale Nest Doorlock using the Google Home App instead of the Nest app?  When I have the Home and Nest app installed on my phone, I start to have conflicting Nest Aware issues.   The options for this lock within the Home app are pretty much nothing beyond lock/unlock.

Thanks in advance Google Community!

Google Nest does not seem to be very clear about using the home/away function and your phone's location when you have the Google Nest app and the Google Home app.  On this community forum thread below Google Nest says you can only enable it in one of the two apps, which makes it useless for customers who have devices in both apps:

This Help topic refers to changing the passcode only in the Google Nest app:

What do you mean by "conflicting Nest Aware issues"?  We've had the Google Nest app and the Google Home app installed on our phones and iPad for three years, ever since migrating from a Nest Account to a Google Account, with no issues at all.

Hi MplsCustomer -

I was getting a lot of notifications for people being seen on my Nest cameras with my setting set to no notifications when "home" - upwards of 30 a day.  After speaking with Google Help, I was told that Home app and the Nest app were causing conflict/confusion with my home status.  Once I uninstalled the Nest app on my phone (and my wife's phone) the notifications are now acting according to the settings.  I am trying to avoid installing the Nest app just to add a PIN code to my door lock.

That link was very helpful thank you!  Looks like I will have to reinstall the Nest app, add the PIN code, and then uninstall it.  That is silly but hopefully, Google will show this issue some love and attention one day.
