calendar event to trigger automation

Hello,

I would like to start an action based on a google calendar event.  There is a suggestion that this can be done but i cant see an available action or how you would link it to your acount.

how can i do this?

for example. On monday if event then switch light on

Thanks for posting in the Community.

To answer your question, it looks like setting up a household routine can do that. Household Routines help automate shared home devices for everyone in your home.  For example, if you've turned on presence sensing for your phone, your cameras turn off automatically when you come home, or when you manually set your home's status to Home.

• Only eligible home members with manager access can create or edit a household Routine.
• Anyone in the home, including guests, can start most household Routines.
• All home members can check when a household Routine starts. This info is in the Google Home app, in the Home history.
• They can start when a device turns on or off.
• They can't give personal results like events or reminders from a home member's calendar.
• They can start when everyone's away or when someone comes home. Learn more about Home & Away Routines.

I'd like to be able to do something similar.  My favorite sports team has a calendar.  I'd love to be able to: 1) change room lighting, 2) start radio or tv broadcast, and 3) start DND on my phone, with all triggered by the calendar event.  Providing steps for how to do this would be much more helpful than 'it looks like that can be done.'

I'm also interested in this use case. I want to turn my thermostat on and off based on when people will be at a vacation home. It just needs to trigger based on a Google calendar event start and stop time, with the ability to +/- the time relatively.

I'd love to do this so we can have the morning alarms set to calendar entries for different speakers. Would make school / holiday alarm scheduling much easier.
