That's a typical Heat Pump setup. Yes, it'll work just fine. 

B = Common

O = Reversing Valve (Toggles heating/cooling - Does not affect Emergency Heat source) 

G = Indoor Blower

Y = Compressor

W = Emergency Heat

R = 24v (Hot - Be careful not to make contact with the other wires, doing so WILL blow a fuse OR short out a transformer - Recommended practice is to remove power before fondling any wires.  )

@suzytaylor, thanks for your update. Nest thermostats are designed to work with most 24 V systems, even older systems. They work with all common fuel types including natural gas, oil, and electricity.
