"Away" routine activating automatically when not wanted

My Google Home 'Away' routine is activating at 7pm each night, turning all the lights off. I'm always home at this time of night and don't want this to happen.

I have turned off all presence sensing options on both the Home and Away routines, so they should only be activating when I tell Google that I'm leaving or home. I'm at a bit of a loss as to why this is happening.

I've just spent months dealing with an issue with my Nest Hub, and honestly now just getting a bit tired of the constant problems...

Hi lilbec383,

Could you please upload a screenshot of the routine that you are having issues with.

Cathal

Thanks for uploading the screenshots.

I can't see any reason why that is automatically running at 7pm everyday?

Please could you try deleting that routine for a day to see if something else is causing this to happen. I understand that it's not ideal but it could help figuring out why this is happening. If it doesn't happen while deleted then please add the same routine again and let us know what happens.

Regards,
Cathal

It's a built in routine - there's no option to delete it? Shouldn't you know this?

Hi folks,

@Cathal_S, thanks for the help.

@lilbec383, that certainly hasn't been easy for you ―  let’s check this out.

If you could, before you get home, turn off your phone’s location and check if the Home and Away routines still activate if it doesn’t detect your location.

Note:

  • Home Routines can be triggered by home status.
  • You can use the Home & Away toggles in the Google Home app, use a voice command to Google Assistant, or use sensors in the customer’s product for automatic presence detection.
  • Voice commands don't change the status of cameras or the Nest Secure, for security reasons.
  • Voice Match isn't required, but if you have voice match enabled, you are prompted to change the home state when you run your "I’m Home" or "I’m Leaving" routines.

Check out this link for more information and troubleshooting steps.

Tell me how it goes.

Best,

Dan
