home.nest.com unavailable for a long time

Anonymous

Anyone got an explanation for this?
At times, home.nest.com will not login on a computer for a week or more. The site remains blue with a white house being circled endlessly but doesn't logon.

Nothing will change that. Not erasing the browser's full history, not using another browser (erasing history too), not using incognito mode. Neither does logging the google account from Chrome work.  There just doesn't seem a way to force home.nest.com to show the logon screen.

What does help, is picking up another computer and opening home.nest.com. That and using the Nest app on the phone.

After a week or so, home.nest.com will start working again on the affected computer.

Hi taas,

Thanks for reaching out.

We're sorry to hear that you're experiencing this upon accessing the Nest web app. Since you've mentioned that it's working using a different computer, I would highly recommend to update your Chrome browser to that affected computer and see if this will fix the issue.

Let us know if this works.

Best,

Princess

I am not a total moron with computers. The Chrome browser is totally up to date. So is the Edge browser that shows the same behaviour. What would help, is either one of those:

  1. A technical explanation for this behaviour - the original question; because it isn't a cookie or browser or OS thing (unless you stopped supporting Windows 11)
  2. Give me a hint how to force home.nest.com to login again (it's obviously some auto logon that fails)

Hi there,

Got it. Give the steps below a try and let us know the result.

  1. Reset the browser cache and history, then relaunch the browser.
  2. Check their antivirus software, and ask them to add https://goo.gle/2qjvVSU to the allowlist.
  3. Attempt to disable any antivirus, firewall or security software installed on the computer.
  4. Test if the issue persists in another web browser.
  5. Make sure to have an alternate browser first. Then, uninstall and reinstall the affected web browser.
  6. Restart the computer.

Thanks,

Juni
