Hi @Patty717171
Did you have the first generations or the second generation?
If you have the first generation it already should be replaced after 7 years.
If you have the second generation you should get up to 10 years. Maybe worth a shot cleaning the device to see if this helps?

Hello everyone,
@Patty717171, thanks for posting here in the Community. To confirm, what is the make and model of the battery you installed? The recommended battery is Energizer Ultimate Lithium AA (L91). Hit this link for more information. What RXShorty had shared is about the expiration of the Nest Protect. All carbon monoxide (CO) alarms expire because their sensors have a limited lifespan. To comply with certification standards, 2nd gen Nest Protect has to be replaced after 10 years, while 1st gen Nest Protect has to be replaced after 7 years.
Looking forward to your response.
I appreciate the help, RXShorty.
Best,
Emerson
