In 2021 I bought a package of three Nest Protect: 2nd Gen Smoke + CO Alarms, battery powered. A month ago, one of them started making false smoke alarms ("Heads up! There's smoke in the house. The alarm may go off. It's going to be loud.") There was no smoke or steam in the house. After pressing the reset button many times, the alarms wouldn't stop, and I took it down, took the batteries out, cleaned it, and tried to reinstall. The alarms returned. Anybody know what's wrong and how to fix it? The product is out of warranty, but is still too new to wear out. I hesitate to buy a new one for fear this will happen again. The other two devices seem to be working fine.

Hi MBrunel,
Uh-oh! If you're experiencing false smoke alarms with one of your Nest Protect devices. Have you tried to perform a Safety Checkup on your device already? If not yet, kindly perform it and let me know how it goes.
Best,
Zoe
